Chapter 1 // Chapter 2 // Chapter 3 //

Nino found Jun sitting in their favorite spot on the sidewalk near the office entrance. His eyebrows were knitted together, a disgusted frown on his face. He looked like someone who was very offended by a math problem on a test so much that he wanted to set fire to the test paper. The lit cigarette he was holding was now a stick of ash, and Nino knew Jun hadn’t taken a single puff from it since lighting it.
“Well if it isn’t lover boy.” Nino sat beside his best. “Why the long face?”
Jun looked at Nino as if he was going to stab him, cleared his throat and put out the unsmoked cigarette on the ground. “He bailed on me.”
“He what?”
“God, I know you heard me the first time, Nino. Don’t rub it in.”
“Sorry.” Nino knew his best friend was seriously upset and knew it wasn’t a good time for witty comebacks. “That sucks.”
Jun said nothing.
Nino sighed and lit a cigarette. “Please don’t go stoic on me like that, J, I promise I’ll return your favorite Beatles shirt that I definitely didn’t take without your permission last time we played Overwatch at your house.”
“What?!” Jun snapped. “I spent days looking for that, Nino! Give it back!”
“Of course I’d give it back! I just always forget to bring it to work. I’ll bring it tomorrow.”
Pause.
“See, at least now you’re mad at something else.” Ninomiya offered Jun a cigarette who willingly took it, his face lightening up a bit.
Jun was about to thank Nino when he heard a familiar voice call out to him. He knew exactly who it was and tried to ignore it, but didn’t. Sho was walking towards them looking a bit more tired than usual.
“Hey.”
“Jun, I’m so sorry for earlier…” Sho sat beside him on the sidewalk, offering him a can of black coffee. “My head started to hurt and I just… I didn’t think I could stay awake for more than an hour and felt bad that I’d just sleep on you when you come over.”
“It’s okay.” Jun took the canned coffee from him and flashed him a sort of comforting smile, making the older man believe him. “Are you feeling better?”
Sho nodded, smiling back. “I’m really sorry.”
Jun shook his head. “Let’s forget about it.”
“I’ll make it up to you.” He gently squeezed Jun’s thigh before kissing him on the cheek and standing up. “I’ll see you inside.” He nodded to Nino in a polite gesture and left.
Nino followed Sho with his eyes until he made sure that the manager was completely inside the office building and couldn't hear anything he was about to say. He wasn't afraid to say whatever was on his mind about anyone but he just didn't want to sabotage his friend's relationship. “Hmmm. Yep.” Nino’s eyeballs were midway through an eye roll. “How sweet. He apologizes, gives you a bullshit reason and you believe him.”
Jun inhales deeply and exhales through a blow upwards, his fringe blown away by his breath. He opened the canned coffee Sho gave him, one of his favorites, and took a thoughtful sip. “Why wouldn’t I?”
“He calls you to come to his house then cancels last minute because of a stupid headache? Isn't that reason stupid? Don’t you think he might be fucking someone else?” Nino feigns a horrified gasp. “Or could it be… that he’s actually straight?!”
Jun laughs at Nino’s ridiculous face, trying to hard his obvious worry from his best friend. “Shut up, Kazunari.”
“What, I’m just giving you possibilities, you know? I don’t want you to come back running to Ninomii and say that he was right all along.”
"Ninomii isn't right and Sho is going to prove that. Or Jun hopes, at least." Jun stood up and dusted his butt. “Why the fuck are we speaking in third person? I’m going inside. See you around.” He hears Nino's laughter as he walks away.

The day went on like the usual. Calls queueing, Jun growing a headache because of the same supervisor he was complaining to Nino about the other day, Sho being pretty chill because of course his entire team was performing well as always. For some particular reason though, Satoshi wasn't in his desk. Nobody really said anything. He's the director, he does what he wants, was what Sho usually said when someone starts to ask him when they notice the director doing something unusual, like that one time he took two week's off because of family reasons when he actually went deep sea fishing in Thailand.
Jun had just finished having a meeting with his team leaders when he saw Nino entering the calling floor with Masaki and Satoshi. The director was discussing something with them, and Nino was responding quite animatedly, Masaki nodding from time to time. Satoshi went straight to his office, Nino following him to the glass walled room. Jun observed them for a bit. Nino was standing infront of the table and had both his hands on it, leaning towards Satoshi. Jun watched the director laughing, his hand over his mouth, probably because of what Nino said.
His best friend left the director's office and went over to where Masaki was, they talked a bit and then went around the calling floor, checking the computers for anymore issues with Ethernet cables.
Nino walked over to his friend's station just as he was rubbing his temples, glasses on his desk, Masaki following him. "Yo, what happened to your contact lenses?" He placed his arms crossed on the partition of Jun's station.
"Took them off because I wanted to gorge my eyes out earlier." Jun said, now rubbing his eyes. "I feel like I need to punch someone in the face."
"Stress isn't good for you, Jun-kun. Wrinkles." Masaki said in a bit of a sing-song voice as he passed by, leaving the calling floor.
Jun looked up to glare at Masaki's direction, though he was already out the door. "If he wasn't maybe as good looking as Sho, I would've went after him to punch his mouth."
Nino cackled. "Let's go on lunch, J. You gotta blow off some of that steam."
"That's true. Yeah. Let me ask Sho--"
"Why?" Nino's face twisted in a scowl. "Jesus Christ, Jun. You should make him make the first move. Stop doting on him."
The manager didn't say anything in response. He knew his best friend was right. He put his glasses on and followed Nino out without a word.

They were about to finish their meal when Satoshi and Sho showed up. Sho of course took a seat beside his boyfriend, and Satoshi had no choice but to sit beside Nino, who didn't budge even a little bit even though he was sitting in the middle of the bench. The older man said nothing and sat down anyway, showing no discomfort in the lack of space.
The facilities manager smiled at him, still chewing food in his mouth.
Satoshi smiled back, leaned in and whispered "Please move."
Nino almost choked and moved to the opposite side, trying to regain his composure.
Sho was a bit confused by this and looked at Jun, trying to find an explanation on his lover's face.
Jun lightly kicked Sho's foot under the table, one of the ends of his lips slightly curving upwards.
Sho nodded, taking the hint. He cleared his throat. "Satoshi and I were talking about going on a team building at that mountain resort that just opened last week. There's an outdoor hotspring and a fishing spot and waterfalls you could actually treck to." He turned to Jun, casually placing a hand on his knee. "What do you think?"
The younger manager nodded in enthusiasm. "I'm all for it."
"I'll ask management to include IT and facilities." The director's voice came from out of the blue.
This time Sho, Nino and Jun choked on nothing in particular.
"Is there a problem with that?" Satoshi asked, maintaining a straight face.
"Well... they did help the campaign out a lot these past few weeks and I think they do deserve some sort of reward..." Sho cocked his head to one side. "...and you're the director. Your call."

It wasn't even three in the morning yet and it was a particularly cold day. Nino was sitting on the gutter near the van they rented out for the weekend team building, smoking a cigarette and drinking a cup of hot coffee, waiting for the rest. He was wearing a thick hoodie, tapered pants, and his favorite pair of Chucks Taylors that were falling apart. He didn't really know the other managers who were chattering inside the van, and and to be honest, he didn't really care.
He had agreed to drive the first two hours to the mountain resort as a sort of thanks to Director Satoshi and would've agreed to drive them until there if Masaki hadn't insisted to drive the remaining half of the time, saying that he too was thankful that the director included them in their team building and also wanted to do something in return. For once, Nino didn't protest.
Actually, Nino hated social interaction. Social gatherings, even more. Jun can't even make him leave his house without bribing him if he doesn't want to. This time though, it was something different. He just had to go. This was to his advantage, anyway. More chances to flirt with Director Ohno, of course.
He jumped a bit when he felt something very cold on his neck. He turned and found Satoshi standing behind him, and discovered that it his hand was the cold thing. Jun and Sho were standing behind the director, and to his slight annoyance, were holding hands and were giggling to each other about something. "G'Morning, boss."
"Call me Satoshi." He sat beside Nino and made a peace sign while looking at Nino's lips. "Can I have one?"
Nino smirked and leaned in to plant a small kiss on the older man's mouth.
Satoshi laughed. "I meant a cigarette, Nino. I was asking if you still had a cigarette."
"I know." Fuck, too cute. Too cute!! "I do." He pulled his pack of cigarettes out from his pocket and gave one to the director and watched him put it to his lips before he offered to light it.
The director took a long drag before puffing out a big cloud of smoke, a smile still lingering on his lips.
"I didn't know you smoke."
"Only if it's cold. Especially if I'm fishing."
"Sho and I'll take the front seat." Jun said before Nino could reply to Satoshi. He opened the van's front door and placed his bag on the seat when the director objected.
"I'll take the front seat. It's a two-seater, so you can sit with me if you'd like."
The young manager wanted to object, jaw-dropped, but stopped himself. He thought it was unfair but he was still technically talking to his boss. Asides from that, Ninomiya was glaring at him, eyebrows furrowed.
Sho chuckled and pulled Jun away from the door, taking his things with them. "Come on. You can't negotiate with him, anyway. He's stubborn as fuck. We'll sit at the back."
Nino contemplated for a moment if he should convince Jun to sit with Satoshi shotgun rather than with his new boyfriend at the back. Shut up, Nino. It's not your butt Sho's fucking. It's not your problem. Jun's a grown up. He thought to himself, watching Sho open the car's barn door and Jun climbing in after him.

The other managers were having a seemingly interesting conversation in front and Sho wasn't paying attention at all, he didn't even know who's voice was who's anymore.
Jun had fallen asleep on his shoulder about ten minutes into the drive, his arm was clutched
around Sho's and his fingers laced on his. Sho was running his thumb up and down his lover's knuckles and was staring at their fingers intertwined while he was lost in thought.
How the hell did he get into this relationship anyway? Just about a month ago, he told himself that he wasn't ready to get into anything serious, probably just see random people, talk with them a bit and have sex after dinner: no strings attached.
To be completely honest, Jun wasn’t Sho’s type, not at all. The men he liked were those who exuded a don’t fuck with me aura, with chiseled and prominent facial features, much like his ex-boyfriend Tomoya. He was a chemical engineer, and was about three years older than him, another fact that Sho liked about him. He was very aggressive and stimulating, both in conversations and in bed and it was something Sho enjoyed very much. That was a very long time ago though, way before Yuriko, and Sho couldn’t even remember why they broke up. After Yuriko, Sho decided to take a long break from dating. He felt like it was only stressing him out instead of helping him relax.
The first time Sho saw Jun was when he had just finished applying as a manager for their company. It was already the end of shift for Sho and Satoshi and they were walking from the company pantry when they passed by Jun in the lobby, talking with the head recruiter about his requirements.
Sho couldn’t help but notice the younger man’s prominent eyebrows and long eyelashes, features he felt were very feminine. They had made eye contact and Sho nodded to be polite, and Jun replied with a small smile.
That same evening, Satoshi had introduced Jun as the new manager for their campaign, and asked everyone to welcome him and help him if he had questions about the account.
There wasn’t much difference when Jun joined the team for the first few months, but then Sho would always catch the man staring at him, sometimes even from his desk, even though their stations were very far from each other. Even during meetings, he’d catch Jun looking at him, and then looking away as quick as he could when caught. He paid no mind to this and didn’t want to do anything about it, figuring it would only lead to something else if he did.
Sho decided to test things out, he wanted to know if it was just him or if Jun really was checking him out. The perfect opportunity came one team lunch. It was just called team lunch but it wasn’t necessarily a lunch, sometimes it was karaoke or breakfast by the beach—depending on Director Satoshi’s mood. That particular team lunch was a dinner at a new fresh seafood restaurant that just opened near the office. Satoshi was a huge fan of seafood, and he insisted that they try it out, his treat.
Sho had also noticed that Jun didn’t have a constant buddy from the managerial team. He was friendly with everyone, even with the agents, but the only person he ever saw Jun hanging out with in and out of the office was Kazunari, the facilities manager.
During that dinner, Jun was sitting near Satoshi, and there was a vacant seat between them. Sho took advantage of this and casually sat between the director and Jun, nonchalantly talking to Satoshi about the food they ordered. Jun was having a conversation with the manager beside him and didn’t really pay attention to Sho. Then their food arrived and as they were eating, Sho confirmed his suspicions when Jun asked him out, in a very nonchalant way at that.
Now here he was sitting in the back seat of a van going somewhere new, holding hands with the same guy who now happens to be his boyfriend. He buried his face in Jun's hair, smiling to himself. It smelled like ginger tea, and it somehow made him feel very calm. Maybe going steady with Jun isn't really a bad idea.
He shrugged his thoughts away and snuggled closer to the younger manager, dozing off.

It was a smooth ride, and there wasn't much traffic yet because of how early it was. Jun's personal Spotify playlist was playing on the Bluetooth speakers he brought and no one protested, much to Nino's dismay. He was sure as hell that LANY's ILYSB was going to play on his head on repeat again for the next few weeks, and he'd need to listen to it even though he disliked it just to stop himself from pulling his hair off.
The other managers in the back were talking about this person who was in a same sex relationship, and being the active listener that he was, Nino couldn't help but overhear. Nino didn't know and didn't really care who the hell these people were talking about, but it was just fun listening to them and analyzing how pathetic they were. I mean, isn't there anything else to talk about? He was throwing glances at Satoshi from time to time, trying to see if there was any reaction on his face but of course, there wasn't. Masaki, who was sitting beside Satoshi, was leaning back on his neck pillow, asleep.
"Like, oh my god. It's a pity he's gay. He's so good looking! He should find a good wife and get married." Nino heard Female Manager #1 say.
"IKR? I was also so shocked when I found that he was dating" Female Manager #2 clears her throat "You know..." Nino peered at the rear-view mirror and saw her make a gesture of dusting her shoulders. "I can't believe he's gay. I mean he's so smart!"
At that comment and at the realization who these two assholes were talking about, Nino stepped on the breaks hard. Hard enough to wake up Masaki, and hard enough for Female Manager #2, Female Manager #1 and the rest of the guys to slightly be thrown off from their seats.
Satoshi threw Nino a questioning glare.
There were a few murmured complaints a loud Oi! from the back of the van, most probably from Jun.
"Oh my god, I thought I ran someone over again." The facilities manager wiped his brow with the back of his hand.
"Can you be more careful?!" Female Manager #2 was near hysterical.
"And what do you mean again?! You mean you ran someone over before?!" Female Manager #1 was craning her head towards Nino, to better scream at him. "Director, why did you allow this guy to drive?!" She looked at her boss, looking for some sort of validation.
"Yeah, I ran over this homophobic bitch one time. Oh my god, her face was so ruined, you'd mistake it for dog shit." Nino said nonchalantly, starting the car again. "Funny how I don't regret it though, I must be a psychopath or something." He looked back at Female Manager #1 and flashed her the best cutie-patootie smile he could manage.
Female Manager #1 gulped. She and Female Manager #2 sat back and said nothing the rest of the trip.
Satoshi shook his head in disbelief, suppressing a laughter.
"...Nino-chan, did you actually run over someone before?" Masaki's head popped up from beside the director, looking genuinely concerned.
Nino and Satoshi burst out laughing.

Nino found Jun sitting in their favorite spot on the sidewalk near the office entrance. His eyebrows were knitted together, a disgusted frown on his face.

Personal Notes:
8/30 - sigh. I was struggling with this. very much. im in a writer's block again, i guess, which usually happens to me when I'm like 4-5 chapters in to whatever I'm writing. I have a very cinematic way of thinking, but I'm not very good with putting the scenes from my head down to writing, that's why I get frustrated very fast. My horoscope said I should create things for the sake of creating them and not for the sake of making people happy, and I'm trying so hard to do that with this fanfic, and because I enjoy writing but then again I also I love it when people like reading what I write and giving me feedback. hahahah. plus i have this bullshit thing where i need to listen to the right music everytime i write to help me feel the atmosphere of whatever im writing about. this entire fic was supposed to be a tokyo ghoul AU, but I decided to center it around Lorde's Melodrama because I was listening to it on repeat that time... but now ever since taylor's new single came out, it's the only thing im listening to and god damnit it doesnt feel right at all. im so pissed hahaha
tldr guys please be patient with me for a while. this whole thing is a learning process for me and is kind of new and wow i want to finish this.
9/1 - THANK THE HEAVENS AND ALL THE GODS OLD AND NEW FOR LANA DEL REY. wow. i can suddenly write better while listening to her Lust for Life <3 weirdly enough, I also asked my office mates for help at the last part AHAHAHAH
9/2 - this is weird but i was also listening to the GoT theme on repeat while writing the bit where they were sitting on the couch.
9/11 - the entire part with the GoT scene was completely removed because my main beta tester bae didnt like it at all HAHAHAHAHAH maybe it'll show up in the next few chapters, since i really enjoyed writing that and worked hard on it. but meanwhile, here's a not so exciting filler, because there's still a lot a wanna write but feel like it's too much to just squeeze it all in in this chapter. it's not much but hahahah pls tune in till next week or this week maybe <3
Ilu guys, really.

Date: 2017-09-30 06:12 am (UTC)It's interesting that now we can read Sho's view on his relationship with Jun. I hope I can know more about Sho's thought. At least he's not playing with Jun's heart.
Okay so I'll go to the next update
